Assessment and Grading System

Assessment:

  1. The students assessment shall be in concord with the philosophy of credit units system, and with the regulations specified by the Faculty's council. As per the nature of each course, and upon the vision of this course's professor, a sum of regular (oral, written or lab) tests shall be defined along with training. At the seventh week of each main semester, and the fourth week of the summer semester, there is a mid-tem exam at the same timings of the given course. A final test is held as well at the last week of each of the semesters as per a schedule to be issued by the Admission and Registration Deanship.
  2. All who do not attend the final exam without a fair excuse shall be deemed 'FAIL'. Those who have certain excuses, shall be referred to the a committee composed of the Vice-dean, head of the given Department, and the professor of the given course so as to resolve holding a making-up exam or having them deemed 'FAIL'.
  3. An honor rank shall be granted to those students who obtain an aggregate average of 4,5 and more at the graduation of theirs, provided that they have never failed at any course during their university study.

 

Grading System:

 

Each course shall be given a sum of '100' scores, distributed as follows:

-         20 scores for mid-term exam.

-         40 scores for final exam, provided that this exam covers the whole material.

 

 

-         40 scores for class-work, including such assessment models as: written and oral tests, reports, papers and readings, lab experiments, field research papers, weekly and monthly works.

'Incomplete' Average

An average of any of the given courses may be delayed for the incomplete requirements of its, for uncontrolled reasons, according to the concerned professor of this course and the Department's council, for a period not more than one main semester. The student shall be accordingly given the 'Incomplete' (IC) average. If the student has not completed later on the requirements of this course during the given semester, he shall be given then the 'Fail' average.

 

'Postponed' Average

In case of the courses which are of a special nature, since they require a period longer than one main semester so its requirements are completed, for what they include up of research or training, the averages may be postponed for a period not more than two semesters other than the given semester. The student shall be given in this case the 'Postponed' (IP) average. When the requirements of the given course are deemed fulfilled, then he is given the proper average to be credited as is.

 

Failure

The student, who fails at any of the given courses, may register this course again. In this case, the new average shall be then credited, provided the old one remains and credited within the aggregate average. The new average shall not as well cancel the old one.
